Why is that some men want to have a lot of children but don't want to be there to father them? Is it some kind of game? The man with the most off spring wins! These men need to get over themselves. Life isn't a game. There are millions of children out there who suffer because of this.
As parents, we learn how to be a parent from our parents, who learned it from their parents and so on... That doesn't give our future generations very much hope. What example are we setting for our children when we walk out on them? What are we telling them? That its OK to make a baby but you don't have to take care of it.
Being a mother of an amazing 11 year old son, I often worry about how he will turn out. I know that he knows right from wrong and he probably will be very educated and successful in the career he chooses. But how will he be as a parent or father? That's what worries me.
His father has been out of the picture for over 4 years now. They didn't have a good relationship to start. I often talk with my my son about his father, because I know how hurt he was from the abusive he endured both physically and verbally from him. I want to let him know that he doesn't have to be like his father. That he isn't genetically inclined to make the same mistakes.
Sometimes boys become just like their fathers and other times they become the opposite. They become the fathers they wish they had.My son often tells me, "Mom, I 'm not going to be like dad. I am going to love my kids and be there for them." I hope and pray that he means what he says. My son is only 11 now, but in 15 to 20 years he will probably be a father. I hope I am still around to be there and support him emotionally.
I hope that someday soon I will find a man that will be a good husband and a great dad. I know my kids wish for it everyday. I want them to know that there are good fathers out there, even if they are not your biological one.
For all you "good" fathers out there, keep up the good work!

Where did all the days go?
I know I haven't posted anything since the end of May, for that I am apologize. It's not that I didn't have anything to say but I just couldn't get the quite time to say it. You see my kids have been home from school since the first week of June and that changes everything. My quite time in the mornings are no longer quite. The kids constantly compete for my attention. I am lucky if I can check my email and Face book accounts.
I did get a bit of a break for a few days when I sent three of my children to camp. It was only for five days but hey it's better than nothing. My oldest child stayed home with me. She always complains that we never get to do anything with each other. So she got me for five whole days to herself. We went to the movies, out to dinner, and shopping at the mall. I walked with her to library and even went to visit the "Bird Lady". You would think she would be happy right? Guess again, she wasn't. No matter what I did with her or where I took her she still seemed down. Go figure!
Now over a month later, I am finally able to get online and blog. Sorry there wasn't a whole lot of excitement to blog about. Maybe after the fourth of July I will have more to tell you. Until I log on again. Have a safe and Happy Fourth of July everyone!
