Breaking the Cycle of Pain

For those of you out there who suffer from constant pain, I feel for you. For I too suffer from constant pain all over my body. Last week I decided it was time to break the cycle of pain. I bit the bullet and went to see two new specialists who could help me break the cycle. First, a podiatrist who injected both my feet with a steroid based fluid. I don't want to know what's in it, just tell me it will stop the pain. I also got my left ankle injected as well. I won't lie and tell you it didn't hurt, because it hurt like the dickens. I was always taught that after great pain comes great relief. By the way, I have two more sessions of injections for the feet.

The second specialists I saw was an orthopedic specialist. Who by the way is very cute. He told me he could give me relief for at least 6 months. Now that's a promise I don't always believe, but I'll just have to wait and see. Anyway, he too gave me injections in both knees with this new type of medicine which is not steroid based. The first injection was cake, no problem. But dam the second injection, talk about pain. That bad boy hurt pretty bad. In fact I couldn't even leave the doctor's office for an hour due to the pain. After an hour and a pain pill later, I was able to walk out. I have two more injections to go, let's hope the next session is less painful.

The next day, both feet were a lot better. The ankle was still a bit sore and stiff, but that is probably due to the fact that there was quite a bit of scar tissue. The knees have a new lease on life. For the first time in years, it didn't hurt to go up and down the stairs. Can't wait to see what progress the next injections do. I also have to get both my shoulders and left hip shot up too. But I guess I'll wait until the feet and knees are all done with.

I guess you are wondering why it took me so long to try all this. I guess the real reason is I just got sick and tired of all the pain medications, which by the way didn't really work for me. My family doctor prescribed me everything on the market, nothing stopped all the pain. I have tried various alternative methods, some worked temporarily and some did nothing at all. The ones I got some relief from unfortunately weren't covered by insurance. They got to be quite expensive after awhile. Anyway, I guess in the end I got tired of being in pain. Although it has been painful to endure the injections, I guess what they say is true: "No pain no gain.
